Unworthy of Even a T-Shirt
So Hurricane Earl turned... literally turned... out to be a big fat sack of nothing. Durn it, no "I Survived Blah Blah Blah" t-shirt.
And eventually we'll have the unhappy task of moving all the lumber and patio furniture back up to ground level from the basement... but not this Labor Day Weekend. Yes, as usual I had high hopes for big accomplishments over the past few days. Unfortunately, I've been feeling like poo for most of the weekend and couldn't bring myself to do anything Sunday and...

Hurricane Earl A'Comin
Ah, Cape Cod on Labor Day weekend. Time to kick back, roll down the windows, and prepare to sit yo' ass in traffic for the next two hours. And, oh yeah, there's a hurricane a'comin!
Having already lived through the "I Survived Hurricane Bob" t-shirt craze, I can't wait to add an Earl to the list of incredible Northeast natural disasters. But, since we're always under construction at home.... and since we're always a mess in the yard... we have some doings to do to prepare, and we don't have...

7 September 1956 “Picnic, Peyton Place, and To-doing”
I hope all of you, here in the USA, enjoyed Labor Day.

Even though summer seems to end in mid-August the number of cars swooshing past has dropped to crawl of contractors and tradesmen and the occasional [...]

Your chance to do what Rob O’Leary and Demetrius Atsalis wouldn’t; get rid of Big Brother....
Citizens throughout the commonwealth collected enough signatures to put Question 2 on the ballot. If voters ratify the question, it will strip the Massachusetts Housing Appeals Committee (HAC) of its...
Say No to Plastic Waste Today!
On Saturday, Sven and I finally were able to get away to spend an hour on the beach, a first in a number of days. We walked up to Marconi, at low tide. The waves crested further out than usual and were still powerful, a reminder that Earl had moved out to sea. They charged way up the beach, sucking at our ankles. It was the type of day that makes you draw in breath and think, how lucky I am to

The Hurricane That Wasn't
Hurricane Earl was heading toward the North East,They shouted, "This one's going to be a BEAST!"Some used plywood to board up their store,
Some went crazy and used tape galore!
The hurricane flags were flying from every mast,Stories surfaced of hurricanes of the past.
The news reporters were here and in their glory,
Not just one... they ALL had to get a hold on the story.
The fishing boats were moved from their pier,
To a much safer harbor, where the wind wouldn't cause fear.
The theory was...
